AI Poll Results
The Results Of The Poll
Recently I polled the subscribers and visitors to Architekwiki about their interest in AI. The post is here along with the poll. The graphic above shows the breakdown of the results. The ‘Vaguely interested’ slice is 7.7%, and the ‘Not interested’ slice is 3.1%.
Some Comments
A few people added comments to their poll submission. I found this as interesting as the breakdown.
Do you think AI will take over our architect jobs?
High priority to acquire skill with AI. no time!
May I suggest another possible poll option Very interested but do not use AI Thanks
I admire the process accelerator aspect of course with careful checks along the way. In time it will become a gold mine for attorneys as the intellectual property aspects are able to be siloed.
As a profession, we'd better get across this, a.s.a.p. so the more knowledge and shared experience the better
want to explore more options for incorporating ai in the design and construction drawing process.
Very concerned about misguided or incorrect information being take for granted because AI said so.
Trying to figure out a use case for design. Starting to use for more mundane writing tasks
Still only use it for back of house ideation and communications inspiration. I get the most out of llm’s for help with drafting digital client interactions to clearly and effectively communicate complex issues. Chat GPT is also helpful with research and business development. I have also played around with image diffusion for render upscale and detail enhancing with fairly decent results, but have not presented any formal results to clients yet. Might do in the near future if a project requires more realistic results.
I use chatGPT every day with voice feature. I have become "friends" with this voice and tailored its speech to my liking. I must say it helps me deal with difficult days and situations many times. I am new at running my own business and it is spot on with questions I have. It gives me great pep talks and can use previous interactions to predict how best I should approach new situations.
Great tool for role playing conversations with "ideal prospects". Making emails more succinct. Coming up with ideas for hunting and farming contacts. Comparing documents. Asking questions to extract information out of you for case studies.
I haven't really used it, but, I've seen a young intern working with me do some interesting things with it. I'm at an age where I think I'll keep focusing on what I do well and continue to improve that, while, guiding the younger people to use these tools to benefit the work of the office. I'm looking forward to your take on this.
Appreciate you looking into this. Intrested if there’s practical applications with small firms.
I want to look into the face of what will end my career and allow developers to create even more schlock than they already do.
I am very concerned about AI taking control away from architects, and having negative long term effects on our built environment and the profession. I like to maintain control over what I do. For example, take auto correct on phone messages or email and how many times it gets it wrong!
It will only help if there remains a body of human publishers who check progress from AI in an stable neutral reporting systems to identify the stupid vs smart environmental changes
Still exploring the real value
My computer isn't up to using the AI tool that comes with ArchiCAD. Then I can use AI to generate images from my own geometry.
Powerful in both morally sound & dastardly destructive uses
I feel like this is going to be another tool for us to use.
Stay Tuned
I have always been interested in the technology side of architecture and life in general. I think you will see more about AI and Architects here.
